    Parents are wonderful sources of support for each
    other.
    Meet with other parents whose children have a
    wide range of special needs for a morning of
    sharing, problem-solving,
    coffee, and bagels.

    Summer Art Explorers
    Students in our classes

    July 9, 16, 23, 30 and August 6, 13, 20, 27

    Fridays 9:30 to 10:30 am or 10:45 to 11:45 am

    $25 per class or $100 for a 5 class pass.

    This class is designed for children 1.5 years to 5
    years with an adult.

    Our youngest artists will work with a parent or
    caregiver to explore clay, paint, collage, line, color,
    and shape through activities that are collaborative,
    open-ended and encourage imaginative play. The
    materials will be presented as a starting point for
    the adult and child to interact in an open studio
    environment. Art tools will be introduced and
    techniques demonstrated with different media.
    Documentation will be used to reflect on the
    learning process and record the children’s ideas
    and interests over the course of the class.

    Beat the Heat Summer Studio
    Students in our classes Wednesdays June 30, July
    7, 14, 21 August 4, 11, 18, 25

    1:30-3 p.m.

    $30 per class or $100 for a 4 class pass

    Fee includes the cost of materials

    This class is open to ages 3 and up and is
    intended for children ready for a drop-off class.

    Class Size: 8-12 Students

    We will follow a routine each week of working with
    a drawing material to begin, followed by an activity
    with paint or collage and ending with time to work
    with clay. Students are encouraged to follow their
    individual interests in their creations with the
    materials.

    Beat the Heat Evening Studio
    Students in our classes Thursdays July 1, 8, 15, 22
    August 5, 12, 19, 26

    4-5:30 p.m.

    $30 per class or $100 for a 4 class pass

    Fee includes the cost of materials

    This class is open to ages 6 and up or to younger
    children attending with a parent.

    Class Size: 8-12 Students

    We will follow a routine each week of working with

    with paint or collage and ending with time to work
    with clay. Students are encouraged to follow their

    August Art Camp
    Students in our classes

    Monday -Thursday August 23-26 9:30-11:30 a.m.

    $135 includes all materials

    Ages 4-10 Class Size 8-12 Students

    Beginning with an introduction to materials and
    processes available in the studio we will work
    toward longer term projects, collaborating with
    peers and building layers in our work over the
    course of the week. Materials and processes
    offered will include drawing, painting, clay, and
    collage.

    that would like to come to our studio or an idea for
    a class topic or time, let us know and we can plan
    a program together.

    GET READY FOR A GREAT YEAR AT
    SCHOOL*
    WITH THIS 4-DAY CAMP IN ALEXANDRIA!*

    Designed and directed through a unique
    collaboration of educational experts, Back2School
    How2s will help rising 6th*12th graders prepare for
    the demands of their school year by providing tools
    to sharpen organizational
    skills, as well as reading, writing, and note taking
    skills. Plus students will discover study strategies
    that actually work for them!

    When: August 23rd-26th (Mon*Thurs)*
    Time: 10:00 am *1:30 pm
    Tuition: $350 (maximum of 10 students per class)

    DAY 1: HOW 2 WRITE AWAY WITH
    INSPIRATION*
    Get up and running with Inspiration software. Learn
    how to visually map your ideas, take notes, and
    organize information so you can more clearly
    communicate your thesis and supporting ideas to
    produce
    your best work. Inspiration can help you translate
    mind maps to presentations or papers**easily and
    efficiently!

    DAY 2: HOW 2 GET MORE OUT OF READING
    IN LESS TIME

    Reading is one thing. Understanding and
    absorbing what you've read is another! You'll get
    great tips about how to read a textbook or novel,
    how to skim and scan what needs highlighting and
    how to make the most of margin
    notes. Plus you*ll learn note-taking strategies for
    lectures and all kinds of print materials.

    DAY 3: HOW 2 GET ORGANIZED AND
    MANAGE YOUR TIME

    Jump into action on day 3 with a guided hands-on
    activity in which you'll create a sample notebook or
    paper filing systems using great organizational
    strategies. Then enjoy an introduction to electronic
    organization with
    Google Calendar, Google Docs, and cyber filing!

    DAY 4: HOW 2 BRING HOME THE A'S

    On the last day you*ll take a personal assessment
    to find out what kind of learner you are: visual,
    auditory, tactile, kinesthetic, or a combination.
    Once you know that, you*ll learn academic success
    strategies and studying
    techniques tailored to your learning style--
    strategies and techniques you can easily employ
    back at school to boost your grades, and your
    confidence!
