Bring us your questions, concerns, etc. and discuss them in a confidential forum with other people who are or have been walking this walk through life! Who ever thought it would be like this? Eight blocks from Crystal City Metro). Enter the glass doors on S. Grant St. (closest to the parking lot). Follow the signs up and head up the stairs. There is plenty of parking and it's easy to find. We meet at the Calvary Methodist Church which kindly donates this space for our discussions. Meetings are the first Tuesday and third Thursday of EVERY month (only moved for holidays) Arlington Family Fun Night is a drop-in program for individuals ages 3-21 who are on the Autism Spectrum and their families. Through activities such as games and arts and crafts, staff and volunteers encourage the families to play together. Volunteers will assist with implementing activity stations and engaging participants in the activities. Dates: October 2010 - May 2011 Time: 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Location: Langston-Brown Community Center, (upstairs gym), 2121 N. Cost: $1.00 for county residents, $1.50 for non residents In addition, we’ll have the following: board games, puzzles, open gym, quiet room with our musical beanbag chair, watercolors, playdoh etc. And of course, all the great people too! Family Fun Night is for families of children and teens on the autism spectrum. This is a simple, low-key opportunity for the community to come together and have fun playing and socializing. WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF SEPTA? * To ensure that all children receive an education that allows them to reach their full potential. * To bring together parents, families and teachers of children with special needs in order to share their experiences. * To educate parents about special education, including the identification and placement procedures for children with special needs. * To inform legislators, school boards, and the community about the importance of special education programs. * To improve the lives of children by providing cultural, social and physical enrichment. * To advocate for children with special needs and their right to a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.
